About the Tour
Experience Athens and Cape Sounion in comfort with a private and fully personalised sightseeing ride. Together with your English-speaking driver, you can choose which places to visit, how long to spend at each stop, and whether to follow our suggested itinerary or create your own custom route.
Your driver is a friendly local professional with excellent knowledge of the area and its highlights. They will share useful insights, stories and recommendations along the way, helping you discover Athens like a knowledgeable friend, without the pressure of strict schedules or crowded group tours.
Your first stop can be the iconic Acropolis Hill & Museum, where you can admire the legendary Parthenon and the surrounding monuments. Continue with a stroll along Dionysiou Areopagitou Street, a beautiful pedestrian walkway next to the south slope of the Acropolis, where you can admire the Theatre of Dionysus and the Odeon of Herodes Atticus.
Next, head toward Constitution Square (Syntagma), the central meeting point for locals and visitors. If you are lucky, you may witness the Change of Guards ceremony. No visit is complete without stopping at the Panathenaic Stadium — the only stadium in the world built entirely of marble — then ascending Lycabettus Hill for panoramic views stretching all the way to Piraeus.
After descending from the hilltop, your journey continues toward the Athenian Riviera. Travel along the scenic coastline through Glyfada, Voula and Vouliagmeni. You will also have the chance to visit Vouliagmeni Lake — a unique geological formation with thermal waters and underwater caves. This coastal setting is ideal for enjoying dinner or a coffee by the sea before continuing toward the southernmost point of Attica.
The final highlight of the day is the majestic Cape Sounion — the Temple of Poseidon perched dramatically on a clifftop surrounded by the Aegean Sea on three sides. If timed right, the sunset here is truly unforgettable. After your visit, relax on the coastal drive back to Athens.

Of course, that is one of the main benefits of this experience. You can customize every last bit of the experience, from points of visit to time spent per landmark to adding in an extra food stop.
Will there be an official tour guide?
An official tour guide is not included because the overall experience is centered around the driver and the local perspective. Once you complete your booking you will receive an email with more details about the Athens & Cape Sounion in a Day tour, your driver, and any more information you need to know regarding this experience.
Do I need to be in good physical shape?
The drivers are trained to adapt the experience depending on the type of participants. The most physically demanding site would be climbing the Acropolis, so make sure you bring plenty of water with you on the way up. If you have mobility issues, please inform us when booking.
Can I book my pickup from anywhere?
Our transfer pickups are set within the city (usually from a hotel or residential address). If you’re arriving at an airport or port, you can book a transfer to the city center and combine the two services for a seamless transition.
Can I bring my luggage with me?
Yes, you’re absolutely welcome to bring your luggage along. Just make sure to mention the number of suitcases in the notes section when booking so we can assign the right vehicle.

💶 Local Currency
We recommend you always keep local currency on you (euros) as many local merchants do not accept cards as payment.

We recommend that you wear comfortable clothing and good walking shoes since certain areas, such as the walk up the Acropolis Hill, may have uneven or rocky ground.
☀️ Summer Essentials
In the summer months, the Greek sun is especially strong (even on cloudy days) so we recommend that you wear a hat, sunglasses and sunscreen to protect yourself. Also, be sure to drink enough water throughout the day to stay hydrated.
